âPleasure doing business with you, boys.â I finished our discussion. âI look forward to a prosperous future with you.â
I waved them off as they exited the convenience store, hiding their cash away as FrickaFresh led them off excitedly towards Tabillierroâs place. Looking at the reflective surface of the convenience store countertop, I saw that those three had popped up under my âminionsâ bookmark on my display. Just by joining up with my crew, they had gotten to level eight each, and the organization was growing evermore.
Along with that, I saw that each of my minions now had a âloyaltyâ stat. That was a bit disconcerting to me, if I had to be honest. It wasnât like I didnât expect that someone might want to betray a villain within their organization, but seeing their loyalties quantified like this kind of unnerved me. Iâd grown attached to most of these guys. If I had to kill anyone in my organization for being a traitor, it would have been a little dampening on my spirit. But, I was a villain, and I wasnât going to be soft on anyone who thought they could pull one over on me.
Then I saw the actual numbers. Everyoneâs scores, including the new people Iâd hired, were all over ninety percent, with most of them being near one hundred. Joeâs number was the highest at ninety-nine percent, and he was willing to jump on a live hero grenade to save my life. I was willing to bet that the rest of them werenât planning any stabs in my back anytime soon.
Looking them over a bit more closely, I clicked on FrickaFreshâs score to see what was making him so loyal. His score popped up, along with the equation that drew it up for me. His actual loyalty score was around twenty-five, but there was a modifying sixty-five percent adjustment for something called âfear.â He wasnât necessarily loyal to me as he was afraid of me. I looked over the others, who were sitting pretty at an average seventy percent with a twenty percent adjustment for the âfearâ score. They were all afraid of me to some extent. I liked that. As long as it kept them in line, I was willing to live with it.
âJoe, can you call up a meeting in the big, dramatic board room?â I said to Joe. âI think I have my next plan of action.â
âSure thing, boss,â Joe said as he moved over to the intercom. âEveryone to the big, dramatic board room. Boss has something he wants to tell us. I think itâs pretty big.â
As Joe called up the meeting, I headed down into the facility, to the dramatic board room I specified, where the rest of the team was waiting for me already. Iâd specifically had this room built so I could hold dramatic meetings like this whenever I felt it necessary to do so. I
